In loving memory of my daddy Hugo A. Velazquez Diaz.

Hello everyone,

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we share that our beloved father, Hugo Adolfo Velazquez Diaz, passed away on July 5th at the young age of 41 after a two-year battle with an aggressive cancer. From the moment we learned of his diagnosis until his very last breath, our family never left his side. We stood strong and fought every battle with him together as a family.

If you knew my dad, you would know this loss is beyond painful. He wasn’t just a father — he was our rock, our heart, and our hero. The strongest man we have ever known. He was the sweetest, kindest, most loving soul. He was always willing to help others and put everyone else first. Whether it was a family member, a friend, or a stranger, he gave his time, energy, and heart to anyone in need. He was the light of our family — he united us and kept us whole. His love and selflessness touched so many lives, and now it’s our turn to honor him the way he truly deserves.

We are planning a memorial to celebrate his life with the love and warmth he gave to everyone around him. He always said he wanted to be remembered with a huge smile on his face, dancing Cumbia like no other. We want to give him a beautiful farewell, surrounded by the people he loved, with a live banda, flowers, and photos that show the joy and strength he brought into our lives.

Hugo is survived by his loving wife, Beatriz, and his children Melissa, Stephanie, and Hugo Jr (who is only 9 years old). We never post our personal life online, but we’ve created this fundraiser to give my father the proper farewell he deserves and to help support our mother during this difficult time. The funds will go toward cremation, funeral costs, memorial arrangements, and most importantly, helping our mom with rent, bills, and basic living expenses as we begin to heal from this heartbreaking loss.

Con profundo dolor y corazones pesados, compartimos que nuestro querido padre, Hugo Adolfo Velázquez Díaz, falleció el 5 de julio a la temprana edad de 41 años, después de una batalla de dos años contra un cáncer agresivo. Desde el momento en que supimos de su diagnóstico hasta su último suspiro, nuestra familia nunca se apartó de su lado. Nos mantuvimos fuertes y luchamos cada batalla junto a él, unidos como familia.

Si conociste a mi papá, sabrás que esta pérdida es más que dolorosa. No solo era un padre, era nuestro pilar, nuestro corazón y nuestro héroe. El hombre más fuerte que hemos conocido. Era el alma más dulce, bondadosa y amorosa. Siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar a los demás y ponía a todos antes que a él mismo. Ya fuera un familiar, un amigo o un desconocido, él entregaba su tiempo, energía y corazón a quien lo necesitara. Era la luz de nuestra familia: nos unía y nos mantenía completos. Su amor y generosidad tocaron muchas vidas, y ahora nos toca a nosotros honrarlo como realmente se merece.

Estamos planeando un memorial para celebrar su vida con el amor y la calidez que él brindó a todos los que lo rodeaban. Siempre decía que quería ser recordado con una gran sonrisa en el rostro, bailando cumbia como nadie más. Queremos darle una hermosa despedida, rodeado de las personas que amaba, con una banda en vivo, flores y fotos que muestren la alegría y fortaleza que trajo a nuestras vidas.

Hugo es recordado por su amada esposa, Beatriz, y sus hijos Melissa, Stephanie y Hugo Jr. Nunca compartimos nuestra vida personal en línea, pero hemos creado esta colecta para darle a mi papá la despedida que merece y para ayudar a nuestra mamá durante este momento tan difícil. Los fondos se destinarán a la cremación, gastos funerarios, arreglos para el memorial y, lo más importante, para ayudar a nuestra mamá con la renta, cuentas y gastos básicos mientras comenzamos a sanar de esta dolorosa pérdida.

“Te amo, Daddich — hasta el final. Gracias por darme estos 11 años hermosos con mis hermanos y mi mami. Ahora por fin puedes bailar con mis abuelitos. Mantendré viva tu memoria por siempre.”
