Last week, Allison had to face every pet parent’s worst nightmare. Her sweet boy Mordy — her loyal companion, adventure buddy, and soul dog — was rushed to the emergency vet after struggling to breathe. Tests revealed a large tumor in his chest pressing against his lungs.

Hoping to give him a fighting chance, Allison made the difficult decision to go through with major surgery to remove it. Unfortunately, his lungs were too damaged, and despite the best efforts of the veterinary team, Mordy didn’t make it home.

Mordy was so much more than a pet. For nine beautiful years, he was Allison’s family, her light through some of her darkest moments, and a constant source of comfort, love, and joy. From hikes and river adventures to late-night cuddles and his unforgettable howls, he filled every space he entered with warmth and life.

Even though Mordy has crossed the rainbow bridge, his final days brought significant and unexpected veterinary expenses — including emergency care, hospitalization, and surgery costs. While Allison wouldn’t change her decision to try everything to save him, she’s now facing those bills on top of her heartbreak.
