R.I.P Miko, Help With Final Hospital Expenses

Hi, my name is Sharmaine S, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart.

On June 5th, 2025, at 4:30 AM, I had to make the most devastating decision of my life to say goodbye to my sweet boy, Miko.

Miko was so much more than a pet; he was my best friend, my shadow, and the one constant through life’s ups and downs. I’ve had him since he was just a few months old, and for 13 and a half beautiful years, he filled my life with joy, loyalty, and unconditional love.

As he aged, he developed some senior pet symptoms, which required prescription food and supplements, all of which were not covered by his wellness insurance. I made sure he never missed a vet visit, going every 6 months for check-ups, vaccines, and lab work.

With age, Miko would have some upbeat days and then some slower days. He started moving slower, unable to do stairs, and started breathing a little harder, which I was told was age-related.

But on June 4th, Miko’s health suddenly declined drastically. He wasn’t eating, wasn’t drinking, was extremely lethargic, and even fainted. I rushed him to the emergency animal hospital, only to receive the shocking diagnosis of heart failure. I was completely blindsided, so hearing this new diagnosis was incredibly painful and confusing.

Miko was immediately placed in ICU care, and I couldn’t even bring him home. In the early hours of the next morning, I got the call no pet parent ever wants: Miko was rapidly deteriorating. I rushed to be by his side and had to make the impossible decision to let him go peacefully.

Now, I am facing the unexpected financial hardship of his emergency hospitalization, treatments, and cremation/memorial services. I’m humbly asking for help to cover these final expenses, which total around $5,000.

This isn’t easy for me to ask. I did everything I could for Miko throughout his life. He was always loved, always cared for. If you knew him, you knew he was the most gentle (when he wanted snacks and rub downs lol), brave (he thought he was a big dog with big dog energy), and sweet soul (super loving but feisty when it came to loved ones). If you can give, I would be deeply grateful. If you can’t, sharing this page or sending a kind word means more than you know.

Thank you for being part of Miko’s journey and for supporting us through this heartbreaking time.

With love,

Sharmaine S
