In Loving Memory of Michael Hui Li

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to share the tragic and untimely passing of our beloved teammate, role model, and mentor. On 7/12 at approximately 3:30am, Michael was struck from behind by a vehicle while pacing a female teammate in the designated course area, offering protection and support out of concern for her safety.

What started out as an exciting overnight team relay race took a turn for the worst. After being airlifted to the nearest hospital and despite relentless efforts to revive him, he succumbed to his injuries on July 14, 2025 at 6:32am.

Michael was a loving husband and father, and the sole provider for the family, including a 13-year-old son. He worked tirelessly as a CPA to support and care for those he loved.

As a devout Christian, Michael served faithfully as a worship leader at his church, where he inspired others with his humility, joy, and love for the Lord. Worshipping God was his first passion, long before he discovered his love for running. His heart for God was evident in everything he did—at church, at home, and in his friendships.

Michael was known to all of us as a kind, gentle, and hardworking soul. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he brought warmth, joy, and sincerity into every relationship. His quiet strength and unwavering support made him a treasured friend and an irreplaceable part of our community. Family was paramount to him; it was the source of his happiness.

Michael’s presence brought light and calm to everyone he met. His generosity, warmth, and steadfast character made him a pillar in our community. Running became another passion—he was a familiar face on the Vancouver podium circuit, a five-time World Major finisher, and just one star away from completing his six-star journey.

This unimaginable loss has left a deep void in the hearts of many. His family now faces not only profound grief but also the sudden and overwhelming financial burden of losing their only source of income.

We are humbly requesting your support to the heartbroken Li family in this difficult time of need. All funds raised will go directly towards helping with the medical bills, legal proceeding fees, funeral costs as well as future expenses for his family.

Michael was a beautiful soul who deserved so much more time. His life was a testament to love, faith, and service. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy lives on in all of us.
