On Friday 6th February, our dear friend Matt Murray died unexpectedly. His death has left a huge hole in the lives of his wife Clare and their beautiful daughter Ellen and in the hearts of so many family members, friends, and colleagues around the world.

For the years we have known Matt and Clare, their journey together has been marked by immense love, courage, and resilience, alongside heartbreaking loss. They navigated the loss of their first daughter, Natasha, in 2021, and in 2023 welcomed Ellen, who arrived early and faced significant medical challenges. Throughout the last two years, Matt and Clare’s journey has never been easy yet they have always remained upbeat about the future for Ellen whilst supported by brilliant medical care. Often even to the doctors’ surprise, Ellen has shown remarkable determination and stubbornness (in the best possible way), overcoming challenges that once seemed insurmountable, a real reflection of her fighting spirit and the love that surrounds her.

Once again, Clare’s strength, practicality, humour and deep love for Ellen continue to shine through. She is an incredible mum and remains fiercely devoted and determined to give Ellen a life filled with love, possibility, and joy, despite the huge loss they are currently facing. As such, and with Clare’s permission, we have set up this page on her behalf as a way for friends and family to show their love, support, and remembrance of Matt.

Any funds raised will be used in two ways:

1) To support two charities that have meant a lot to Matt and Clare:

• Little Stars Neonatal, the Frimley Hospital neonatal ward that cared so diligently for Ellen.

• NDCS (National Deaf Children’s Society), which supports deaf children and families and has a special connection to both Matt’s work in audiology and Ellen’s hearing journey thus far.

2) To be set aside for the future, for something meaningful that Clare and Ellen can use together as they build a different way of life and make new memories, carrying Matt’s love with them always.

This page, however, is not just about donations, it is so much more. Not only is this page a small way for us to honour Matt’s life and the kindness and light he brought into the world, the words of support or memories shared will also go a long way to show Clare and Ellen just how much they are loved and cared for. Please feel absolutely no pressure to donate. Simply being here and holding Clare and Ellen in your thoughts is more than enough.
