On September 6, 2023, Mathias Hodges, 41, passed through the gates of heaven after being tragically killed by a motor vehicle while cycling home to see his son. Mathias loved his children more than anything. He traveled through life unapologetically and authentically himself. He created art everywhere he went through spray paint tags, written word, tattooing, painting, music, and sculpting. He was selfless. He was always the first man to offer his hands and heart during a time of need. Above all, Mathias loved to live life.

Mathias is survived by his parents David and Robin Hodges; sister and brother-in-law, Tasha-Rose and Travis Haage; daughter and son-in-law, Lily and Devin Hildebrand; daughter Sophia Hodges; son Emry Hodges; and granddaughter Ivy Hildebrand.

We are all devastated by the sudden loss of Mathias and were not prepared for the high cost of memorializing him. We want to bring Mathias home to his children and give him the memorial service he deserves, honor his memory, and say our last goodbyes. We are requesting financial assistance for the costs associated with transporting Mathias’ body home from Illinois, holding a memorial service, and laying him to rest.
