Marcus Jones was a top tier coach, DJ, a great friend and amazing father. Marcus was sick and battling his body for years. After all the pain, surgeries and nonsense he had to deal with, he passed away. He was recently in the hospital receiving treatment for his ailments and released to handle his daily activities and other business. He was strong and tried to take care of himself but it was too much for his body and he died. We found out last night and I couldn’t be more hurt.

Lessons he taught his son and siblings.

1. If you get knocked down, get back up and hustle. Whether it’s life, basketball, or work, you have to keep trying.

2. Try your best 100%. Not everything is for everybody. My dad believed that no one could stay the best forever. You might not always be number one but your heart will rest easier if you give maximum effort.

3. Always learn, adapt, and grow.

Without Marcus, a lot of men wouldn’t be who they are today. Avery held him in his arms for the last time and I said a prayer for all of us. I know he loves all his family and friends and he’ll be guarding over each of us.

He is currently being held at a funeral home in north Dallas and we are working to fulfill his wish of cremation. He wanted his ashes to be scattered in the ocean so I am going to make that happen. I will continue to update on this page and I’m going to keep his Facebook account open for as long as I can. I know I’m going to reminisce and I’m sure some of you will too.
