In loving memory of Marc Boucher

Donation protected

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Marc Boucher, loving husband of 16 years to my sister, Amey Brooks, and dedicated father to Scarlet (15) and Avery (8). Last Wednesday, August 11 Marc passed away suddenly while playing hockey. They said their “I love you’s” on the way out the door that morning, as they had done thousands of times before.

Marc and Amey have raised their girls with a passion for life, music, animals and learning. Marc was an avid hockey and music fan (notably The Tragically Hip) and he loved working as a navigation officer and river pilot for Lower Lakes. They made a beautiful life together on their hobby farm in Seeley’s Bay where they have a vegetable garden, and are raising chickens, cats, a rabbit and their Golden Retriever, Evie.  This spring and summer Marc was busy with many home renovations, as well as camping, hiking, and fishing with his girls.  The family’s most recent adventure was planting a sunflower patch and selling the sunflowers at their weekly farm stand.

Scarlet and Avery have both expressed great interest in pursuing careers as Veterinarians. Marc often joked with Scarlet about the importance of getting a post secondary degree, and he would respond to her statements about future plans with, “but not until you….?” to which Scarlet would reply, “go to university”.

Due to his congenital heart condition Marc was not eligible for insurance that would provide financial security for the family. Donations made during this fundraising campaign will be used in large part to help pay for post-secondary education for the girls.  Donations can also be made at any Royal Bank of Canada using the account number 02422-5017454.

At this time, as per Marc’s request, no formal arrangements have been made. Amey, Scarlet and Avery are taking time to process this loss, and together will decide on a suitable memorial for their loving husband and father.

On behalf of Amey, our family would like to thank everyone for all of the beautiful messages, emails, texts, and love that they have received over the past few days. We are stronger together and your support has meant the world.

Sincerely,

Melissa Brooks and family
