My heart is completely shattered as I write this. My beautiful son, Malakai Adams, was tragically shot and killed in Far Rockaway. He was only 14 years old.

As his mother, I cannot put into words the pain of losing my baby. At 14, he had his whole life ahead of him—dreams to chase, milestones to reach, and so many more memories we should have had the chance to make together. Instead, I am now faced with something no mother should ever have to do: prepare to lay my child to rest.

After experiencing the heartbreaking loss of one of my children, I am trying to find the strength to move forward and begin a new chapter with my three children. Starting over is never easy, especially while carrying the weight of grief and trying to provide stability, comfort, and a safe future for the children who are still with me. I am asking for help as I work toward building a new life and a fresh start for my family.
