As most of you know, Mckala and Ryan lost their beautiful baby girl Maddi Rae at 6 months old early Friday, September 17th due to complications with one of her procedures.

On 9-8-21, while she was in for a routine cath lab to examine her heart, the doctors had to abort the procedure due to a severe bleeding in her lungs. McKala and Ryan got a call to meet them in the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) and informed them of the news. McKala and Ryan were given the option of putting her on ECMO (life support) for her lungs or let her pass away. They didn’t hesitate to put her on ECMO to give her a fighting chance.

ECMO is a form of life support that takes over the job of the lungs of filtering the oxygen in her blood. While she was on ECMO they had to put her on a ventilator and a dialysis machine.

Over then next 2 weeks Maddi was battling to come off all the support and try and solve this issue of bleeding in her lungs. This proved to be a roller coaster ride for the family because the longer Maddi was on ECMO the more risks for complications there were.

In the end Maddi ended up developing blood clots in her brain which turned out to be catastrophic. Everyone was deviated by the news.

We miss her tremendously we are so grateful for the short time we had with her. We are asking for help with funeral expenses as well as taking some financial burden off the Jagd family while they process this devastating loss.
