Born and raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn, on December 26th, 1956, Liz and her family moved to Staten Island where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was a woman of many talents, spending her career working in various roles as a secretary, real estate agent, party planner, home decorator, paraprofessional, and most recently and enduringly as a beverage sales representative. Liz was a go-getter who consistently topped her team in sales and revenue, often winning company incentives and sales competitions. She was always handing out samples of the latest hot new beverage to family and friends.
In her personal life, Liz was a pillar of her family, especially when it came to the babies in her life. She was affectionately known as "Glamma" due to her glamorous style and loving nature. Nothing lit her up more than having little ones in her arms or running around. Her goal was to put a smile on everyone's face, whether they were a loved one or a stranger. She delighted in meeting people and learning about them, often striking up conversations with strangers in the grocery store, on vacation, or wherever she happened to notice someone who looked like they could use a smile and a kind word.
Liz was a giver in every sense of the word. She gave gifts, attention and time freely to everyone. Shopping was one of her favorite activities and she would often spend that time finding the perfect thing for someone she loved, often for no reason other than the delight on their face when she would give them that special little something. Oftentimes that special little something would just so happen to be a glamorous number with sparkles, rhinestones, gold and silver galore, her signature style. Liz was a snappy dresser and a model in her youth. She would take incredibly fierce and elegant headshots with her iconic runway-model gaze.
Liz was preceded in death by her mother and father Marion and Rudolph Masseria, her brother Matthew and her nephew Thomas. She is survived by her son Adam and daughter-in-law Karen, her stepdaughters Alissa, Shanna and Jenna, her grandchildren Mia, Camila, Arya and Michael, her godchildren Mark and Gianna, her siblings Elaine, Karen, Marianne, Rudy, Joseph, Diane, Michael, Steven, Laura, Thomas, Bryan, John and Tara, her many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and her bonus grandchildren Kaylina, Lyla and Pito.
Liz will be remembered as a beautiful, spunky, funny, loving, and unique diva in her own right. She was an angel on Earth who brought character, love and laughter everywhere she went.
Friends and family are invited to join in her remembrance at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals on Thursday, September 4th, from 4pm to 8pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held the next morning, Friday, September 5th, time to be determined - tentatively at Holy Rosary Church, followed by the burial at Calvary Cemetery in Long Island City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to help cover the costs of sending Liz off with a beautiful service that celebrates who she was and how much she is loved. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean so much.
