In loving memory of Liam Statkewych
Donation protected
My brother Liam sadly and unexpectedly passed away on the evening of December 14th. My brother had been feeling unwell for a few weeks. He visited the emergency room on 3 separate occasions. During his first two visits, on Monday and Tuesday, he was told that he had flu and was dismissed. During his third visit, on Wednesday, my brother ended up developing severe sepsis, suffering two cardiac arrests, which then resulted in organ failure.
My brothers cause of death was Strep A septicemia. He also had influenza.
My brother was one of the most kindest, caring and gentle people. He was always smiling, and was always one of the first people to crack a joke and make a room full of people laugh. We loved him so much.
As a family, we are extremely disappointed and angry. We are completely shocked and heartbroken. It is possible that Liam’s death could have been prevented if his Strep A was detected. We know that Liam’s story is not the first.
I have set up this fundraiser for Liam to allow anyone that knew and loved Liam to be able to contribute to his send off. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
For anyone who is unable to contribute, we appreciate you taking the time to read Liam’s story, and we hope that his story will help other people who find themselves in a similar situation.
Thank you xx
