In loving memory of Kathleen Mary Austin
I’m David, I’m in the army and on the 20th October 2024, I am doing the 10 mile great south run with 21.5kg of weight and in uniform to raise money for the rowans hospice.
Rowans Hospice is a voluntary independent hospice which provides specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting and progressive illness, who are resident in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. The service is provided free, irrespective of the nature of the illness or means to pay.
Sadly, a few weeks ago my finance, Holly, lost her beloved Nanny Kath to lung cancer.
Kath was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was caring, selfless and always put others before herself.
Within a few short weeks she fell incredibly poorly and just 5 weeks after diagnosis she sadly passed.
In the last few days of her life, she was able to get a room at the rowans hospice and the amazing nurses and volunteers made this time so comfortable. Not only for Kath, but for her family who stayed there for the duration of this time.
The people who work at rowans hospice are extraordinary human beings and we cannot thank them enough for their support and kindness. We truly believe that everyone in need should be able to access this hospice and we are hoping the money raised will help more families like ours receive this support.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
