In Loving Memory of Joseph Ehlers — My Honeybunny, My Love, My Best Friend

Joe and I shared nearly 12 beautiful years together. To those who knew us, we were simply the hunny bunnies. Our life was full of love, laughter, and joy — until everything changed in 2024.

That year, Hurricane Helene hit and flooded our home. While we were luckier than many, the damage was still overwhelming. Just four days later, we received devastating news: Joe, the love of my life, was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer.

Joe fought with everything he had. Even while enduring chemotherapy, hospital stays, and the emotional weight of his diagnosis, he never stopped showing up — for me, for our home, and for our love. We worked together to rebuild after the hurricane, even as cancer tried to steal him away.

This past year has been the hardest of our lives. Between cancer treatments, medical emergencies, and trying to piece our life back together, the costs have become insurmountable. Joe was unable to work as much as he wanted, and my income alone has barely covered the basics.

On August 15, 2025, my sweet Joe lost his battle with cancer.

If you know me, you know I’m the one who likes to help others — not the one to ask for help. But today, I’m humbly asking for help. I want to give Joe the beautiful memorial he deserves, and I’m also trying to manage the crushing medical and household debt left behind.
