Jose Gavino Mendez Gutierrez was born on October 7, 1941, in Michoacán, Mexico. He traveled throughout the United States, living in various places until he finally settled in Oxnard, California. There, he was surrounded by some of his grandchildren and his daughter, Gloria.

Jose had a great passion for farming and animals, always showing his skill with the land and enjoying the outdoors, sharing his time with his cockatoos and love birds.

Unfortunately, he had been in and out of the hospital throughout March, but he always showed incredible strength and resilience. We never expected him to pass so suddenly after being discharged from the hospital on March 31. He passed early morning April 1st.

Jose loved his family the best way he knew how, pouring his heart into every moment spent with them. He may have faced many challenges in life, but his dedication to his children and grandchildren was unwavering. His laughter, stories, and the warmth of his presence created a legacy that will forever be cherished.

As we honor his memory, we remember the love he shared and the lessons he taught us about resilience and family bonds. Thank you for allowing us to share his story with you. It’s a reminder of the impact one person can have on those around them, and his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
