Hello everyone, I am the wife of Joe Tao Shen, we recently just gotten married in new years day I'm now a widow and a mother of a 5 year old son.

It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of a Fremont resident, my husband Joe Tao Shen. He died on Monday; January 25, 2021 due to electrocution at our home. He is survived by his wife, 5 year old son, his father, his brother, and extended family. Joe is reunited with his motherand his grandparents in Heaven.

Joe was born and raised in Fremont, CA, His birthday is April 22, 1987. He attended Oliveira Elementary School and American High School (class of 2005).

In June 2010, Joe first worked at Special Dispatch in Hayward, CA for 2 years before working at FedEx Ground in Newark, CA from September 2012 to November of 2018. Around December of 2018, he has been working at Amazon in Newark, CA

Many people would describe Joe, quiet, observant, and mysterious. His love ones describe Joe to be sweet, loving, loyal, a person of dedication, supportive, hardworking, generous, and self-sacrificing. On his days off he would play basketball with his league, hike, take walks, exercise, spend time with his family.

On Monday January 25, 2021 it was like any normal Monday for Joe. It was his day off: he would wake up and get ready to play basketball and exercise at the park before going home to have lunch with his brother. Not a lot of details has been told as of what happened exactly, and his death is currently under investigation.

The only information that I have received is:  On this day (a strong winds were reported), a fire started in his backyard. Joe, he went out with only one thought on his mind is (he needs to protect his family). He went outside to put the fire out and didn't know that the floor near the fire was grounded, so as Joe was trying to put the fire out, the wind was blowing the fire towards the house (which started burning parts of the house). When he stepped off the cement onto the grass (where the floor was grounded) he was electrocuted. The paramedics were in pursuit at this time, and aggressive resuscitation was performed, unfortunately Joe was pronounced dead.

Because of this pandemic, I understand everyone is going through hardship, so please just donate if you can and continue to share. 100% of the funds collected will go towards Joe’s funeral expenses (his burial site, services, priest, flowers, and other misc.) .

Thank you for reading and for the time,

Sincerely,

The Shen Family
