In Loving Memory of Jenni LeForestier

Donation protected

It is with deep sadness that we share that we have lost our beloved friend, Jenni LeForestier, after a short and brave fight with cancer.

Jenni’s dream was for her beautiful and talented daughter Jo to attend OCAD (the Ontario College of Art & Design). If you can find it in your heart, we would appreciate if you could help us help Jenni fulfill that dream by donating.

Many of you know Jenni as the community leader and passionate advocate for the protection of the environment, building movements against projects threatening water, farmland, endangered species, the natural environment, and heritage. She was a strong voice fighting for Indigenous consultation and sovereign treaty rights. Jenni’s clear, articulate vision and advocacy was well-respected throughout Caledon and Peel as well as the broader Ontario environmental community, making her a frequent commentator in the media.

Jenni was a force and active contributor in the many environmental groups she worked with, including Gravel Watch Ontario, the Reform Gravel Mining Coalition, the Peel Enviro Hub, the Coalition for the West Credit River, and the Stop the 413 and Stop Sprawl movements. She formed the Dufferin Caledon EnviroPress Desk to create media awareness of the many environmental issues impacting her community. She led the Belfountain Community Organization and served on the Town of Caledon Heritage Committee for many years. She was the 2021 Green Party candidate for Dufferin-Caledon.

Jenni was a gifted musician, music teacher, avid hiker, and had a third-degree black belt in Akido. And, of course, we have to talk about Jenni’s smile – that mega-watt smile that just lit up any room she was in. Jenni had a warmth and compassion that enveloped everyone she was around. She fought to hold politicians accountable to the public interest, and she fought to make the world a better place. She made all of us be better.

Our hearts break for her many friends and family, but especially her husband Alistair, daughter Josephine (Jo), mom Janine, and brother Chris. Jo just turned 13 two weeks ago.

For anyone who knows Jenni, her daughter Jo, was her everything – her whole world. Every cause that she took on, every fight she led, was a battle to ensure the world Jo would be growing up in would have clean water, air, natural places to walk in, and farmland to grow food ¬ for Jo and for all of our kids to have a future.

The fund will be used for Jenni's beloved daughter Jo.

Organized by her friends who loved her deeply:

Cathy Asher, Laura Campbell, Cheryl Connors, Irene Ford, Kate Hepworth, Maggie Thompson, and Kathleen Wilson.
