Update: We have seen the outpouring of loving words and material generosity within the very first day of posting this campaign and we are so very appreciative for the wonderful support. When Jaymo was getting his affairs in order before passing, he told me that he KNEW that his network of friends and family would show up to take care of Daniella, Max, and James, and boy was he correct. We have increased our fundraising goal to further aid in living expenses for Jaymo’s family as they navigate this heavy loss. Your donations will directly support the Marooneys and their future obligations. Every donation is a blessing with a lasting impact for this grieving young family.
On October 3rd, 2023, the world lost a beautiful human being- an absolutely incredible husband, father, son, brother, friend, and so much more. After a courageously fought 3-year battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma, Jayme- “Jaymo” as he was often lovingly referred to- passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted, closely-knit family. 33 years wasn’t nearly long enough, but he made an everlasting impact on all that had the honor of knowing him. As we come to terms with this unimaginable loss, we are seeking to raise funds to commemorate his life with the memorial service that he deserves, and to support his beloved wife and two young sons as they move into the next steps of this journey.
To anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Jaymo, he was an immediate best friend. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and at ease, always quick with a joke and a warm smile. A friend of a friend once said, “he makes us feel like part of the inner circle every time we visit.” He was truly the best of us, the lighthearted life of the party, a trusted shoulder to cry on, a best friend to all of the guys and all of the girls. He had a positive spirit and a clear appreciation for life, he was a safe space for everyone, hilarious, reasonable, kind and so thoughtful- and our lives are immensely better for knowing him.
Jaymo and his wife, Daniella, were soulmates from the beginning when they met in college in 2009 and eventually married in 2016. Together they enjoyed traveling the world, live music, and spending time laughing with friends, but above all, they’ve always shared a deep love for their families.
Daniella and Jaymo began their own beautiful family in 2020 and when their son, Max, was just one month old, Jaymo’s tumor was discovered. They’ve spent the past 3 years living and learning together, navigating parenthood and survival mode hand in hand. Daniella has stood strong by his side every step of the way, traveling with him to Boston and New York for trials and treatment, advocating for him at every doctor's appointment, administering medicine at all hours of the night, and going through IVF while Jaymo underwent cancer treatment so that they could bring their second son, James, into the world. They were together, holding hands, until the very end.
Nothing can take away the emotional and physical pain from this beautiful family, but we would like to try and alleviate any financial stress that they will experience during the next few months and beyond. Please share what you can to support the Marooneys as they navigate this difficult path. “One frog at a time,” as Jaymo would say.
