Javier passed away on February 7, 2026 and his family is in need of support to help cover funeral and other expenses at this time.

Javier Velazquez-Lara was one of the Unified Athletes at Denver South High School since 2020. Javier was the most lovable kid with the biggest smile that made everyone’s day better. Even though Javier was a man of few words, his smile transcended all languages and to all students at South. Connecting with friends, especially Eli, was the highlight of his days at Denver South.

Along with Eli, I was lucky enough to call Javier my friend. Eli and I were part of the Unified Program for 4 years. When we graduated in 2023, the biggest thing we missed was the amazing friends we met through the Unified Program, especially Javier.

His funeral service is Saturday 2/28 at the Olinger Funeral - Highland (10201 Grant Street Thornton, CO 80229)

2pm - 3pm - Mass
