Dear friends and family to Omar and Teresa Smith,

As you may know Omar and Teresa's daughter, Janiya, had been going through some tough times due to her illness this past year. There had been weekly hospital visits, hospital stays, chemo, and ultimately her bone marrow surgery. This surgery was supposed to get her back on the mend and allow her to be the carefree teenage girl she deserved to be. It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that despite fighting hard she has passed away at the age of 18. This type of news would be devastating to any family but it is especially so to a family as close as this one. 

As a fellow co-worker and friend, I have started a funeral fundraiser to help cover the cost of her funeral expenses. Their family was not prepared for the high cost of a funeral, and during this difficult time I am reaching out to family, friends, and the community for help.

Please consider donating if you can, as any amount will truly help. 
If we exceed our goal, any additional funds will help Omar and Teresa with any lingering hospital costs.
