In loving memory of James O'Flaherty
Donation protected
On Friday, October 7th the O'Flaherty family was forever changed. An explosion at a local gas station in County Donegal took the lives of 10 people and injured countless others. One of the victims of this terrible tragedy was James O'Flaherty. His 12-year-old son Hamish was spared by a miracle. James had just picked Hamish up from school and stopped off for gas. Despite the windows of the car being blown out and debris, Hamish was essentially physically unharmed.
James leaves behind his adoring wife, Tracey, and their 12-year-old son Hamish. James was a fantastic father, loving husband and committed family man; Tracey is a nurse at Letterkenny hospital, and Hamish is a dedicated student. We are raising funds for Tracey and Hamish to show our love and support for them as they navigate this immeasurable loss and provide financial support to help lighten their load as they focus on healing.
If you know Dan and me, you likely know Brian and Joanne Devenney. Tracey is Joanne's sister and the loss of James is felt by their entire family. The Devenney's flew to be with their family as soon as they heard the news, and the Irish community has been unparalleled in their love and support around the victim's families. Videos of Hamish speaking at his dad's funeral have gone viral, demonstrating his love for his dad and the strength he is showing during this unimaginable time.
Any amount of support will be appreciated, and more important than the finances, the demonstration of love surrounding this family will lift them up during this challenging time.
