In Loving Memory of Jake Martin
On October 17th, our family experienced an unimaginable loss. Jake left this world unexpectedly and far too soon. Anyone who knew him knew his big presence. Beneath his tough exterior was one of the gentlest, funniest, most loving souls you could ever meet. He was a free spirit who loved people deeply and had a way of making everyone feel seen and cared for.
The greatest joy in Jake’s life was his daughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Rose, named after our late father. She was his entire world. No matter where he was, he made sure to call her at night to say goodnight, sing her songs, and read to her. Their bond was unbreakable, she was his light through the darkness.
Jake’s journey wasn’t an easy one. He battled addiction and pain, and though he was still in the middle of his healing, he never lost sight of God’s goodness. Earlier this year, he was baptized and found his way back to faith. Before he passed, Jake talked about wanting to share his story, to be open about his journey so he could help others who were fighting their own battles. He said, “God is good,” and that he had his “horse blinders on,” staying focused on the path ahead. Now, we’ll make sure that story and message live on, just as he wanted.
We are creating this GoFundMe to help cover the cost of Jake’s cremation and a celebration of life centered around addiction, healing, and Christ, the things we know he would want to shine through his story. Anything raised beyond those costs will go directly into a savings account for his beloved daughter, Charlie.
Our family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and messages we’ve received. Asking for help is never easy, but your kindness truly helps us carry this burden and gives us the chance to lay Jake’s tired heart to rest with the peace he deserves.
Thank you for loving him, remembering him, and helping us honor his life.
With love and gratitude,
The Martin Family
