In Loving Memory of Jake Cooper – A Fund to Support His Boys
Donation protected
It is with sadness and a heavy heart that I share the devastating loss of my brother, Jake Cooper, who tragically took his own life on January 8, 2025. Jake was more than just a brother, son, and friend—he was a loving father, a source of laughter, and a thoughtful friend/family member. His quick wit, sarcastic humor, infectious laugh, and deep sense of loyalty will never be forgotten.
Jake was a proud father to two amazing sons, Landyn (15) and Riley (14), who brought him immeasurable joy and purpose. Whether they were fishing together, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company, Jake's love for his boys was evident in everything he did. They were his greatest pride, and he would want nothing more than for them to have the opportunities they deserve as they continue to grow into the amazing young men he was so proud of.
Anyone who knew Jake knew his love for the outdoors—especially fishing. For Jake, the tranquility of nature was a way to recharge, to find peace, and to be fully present. His ability to bring joy to any room, whether through his humor or his famous French toast, made him unforgettable. Jake’s warmth, generosity, and loyalty will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His loss leaves a hole in the hearts of all who loved him, and we are all grieving the absence of a truly one-of-a-kind person.
Many people have reached out, asking how they can help during this incredibly difficult time. While the arrangements for his services have been covered, Jake did not have life insurance or financial resources to provide for his sons’ future. As a family, we want to ensure that Landyn and Riley have a strong foundation as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. If Jake were here, we know he would want nothing more than for his boys to thrive, to feel supported, and to have every opportunity to chase their dreams, just as he did.
This fund has been set up in Jake’s memory to support his sons as they continue on their journey without their dad. Every donation will go directly toward their future—whether that’s their education, emotional support, or helping to cover any unexpected expenses that may arise. Your generosity will honor Jake’s legacy and provide a brighter future for Landyn and Riley, who were the light of his life.
Jake’s passing is a painful reminder of the importance of checking in on those we love, offering compassion, and seeking help when we need it. Let’s keep Jake’s memory alive by showing his sons the same love and support that Jake showed all of us.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at Dunton Locks Park (24878 Dunton Locks Rd, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501) from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. All who knew Jake are welcome to attend, share stories, and celebrate the amazing person he was.
Jake, you will be missed more than words can express, but your memory will forever live on in the hearts of everyone who loved you—especially in the eyes of Landyn and Riley.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
