We loved Israel with all our hearts, but we now know that was not enough to save him from the evils of the world. This obituary is not an attempt to assign blame for Israel’s death, it’s not to vent our anger or frustration in a world where drugs have become an epidemic, and can be found at every corner. Instead, we write this obituary in hope that it may provide insightand a light for those lost in the dark struggles of addiction. Israel excelled ineverything he did from academics, to sports, to sharing and preaching the word of the God. Israel was just an overall compassionate and caring individual. With seemingly endless positive traits Israel had the potential to be anything he wanted to be in this life, but drugs slowly began to creep into Israel’s life following his graduation from High School. Although, Israel had a loving family and supportive friends he could never be completely honest about the internal battles he was facing. Israel successfully completed drug rehab several times, but the cravings that came from his addiction were eventually shown to be more than he could overcome.
While we always felt Israel had a grasp on his battles, his ability to hide and disguise his addiction proved superior. What was once the feeling of worry watching Israel struggle, has now been replaced by a deep feeling of lossknowing we will never see his beautiful eyes and smiling face again. The only peace we have now is knowing that his strong faith and belief in the lord has guided Israel to his new home in Heaven.
To everyone struggling with an addiction, this is a simple reminder that there are so many people who love you with everything they have and all they do. Please do not feel too afraid/ashamed or scared to ask for help, because even when people on the outside seem calm, the water can be turbulent beneath, and no one can help unless you ask.
