We are the Oxlaj family, and the relatives of Irma Oxlaj-Vargas. Irma was a mother of two children before she left Guatemala to live in the United States with the intention of creating a future for herself, but mostly for her children. She loved them so much, she would call them every single day and she tried her best to be a present mother even when distance was in between. Irma was a person who was joyful, friendly, eager to help anyone, kind, and very hardworking.

With the heaviest of our hearts today, around 7:00am August 20, 2026, we recieved the news that she has passed away due to a motorcycle accident. We as her family are completely devistated and are going through so much grief just thinking that shes gone. She was only 38 years old with a succesful life ahead of her and now that isn’t possible. She was a daughter, mom, aunt, cousin, friend, and a sister, everyone loved her.

We are creating this GoFundMe to help with the expenses for her memorial, this will help ease the the financial burden that comes with this unexpected loss.

Somos la familia Oxlaj y los parientes de Irma Oxlaj-Vargas. Irma era madre de dos hijos; dejó Guatemala para vivir en Estados Unidos con la intención de construir un futuro para sí misma, pero sobre todo para sus hijos. Los amaba profundamente: los llamaba todos los días y se esforzaba al máximo por estar presente en sus vidas, a pesar de la distancia. Irma era una persona alegre, amable, bondadosa, siempre dispuesta a ayudar a los demás y muy trabajadora.

Con el corazón destrozado, hoy, 20 de agosto de 2026, alrededor de las 7:00 a. m., recibimos la noticia de su fallecimiento a causa de un accidente de motocicleta. Como familia, estamos devastados y sumidos en un profundo dolor ante la idea de que ya no está con nosotros. Tenía solo 38 años y un futuro prometedor por delante, sueños que ahora ya no podrán cumplirse. Fue hija, madre, tía, prima, amiga y hermana; todos la querían mucho.

Hemos creado esta campaña en GoFundMe para ayudar a cubrir los gastos de su funeral y servicios conmemorativos; esto nos ayudará a aliviar la carga económica que conlleva esta pérdida inesperada.
