Hyoja Moon Hong gave her life to serving others. On September 29, 2026, just days after her 68th birthday, she passed into the spiritual world.

Hyoja and her husband, Rev. Dae Hee Hong, were joined in marriage in 1982 as part of the 6,000 Couples Blessing, and from then on they lived as full-time missionaries. They led student ministry (CARP) in Korea, served as national leaders in Taiwan and the Dominican Republic, and worked throughout Mexico and Central America, where Rev. Hong later served as regional president. In the early 2000s, they were Regional Directors for Florida and Georgia. Hyoja's devotion ran deep: she offered a 40-day water fast in prayer for America, and after True Father's ascension she began a second 40-day fast, offering 21 days before Holy Mother Han asked her to bring it to a close.

Hyoja is survived by her husband, Rev. Dae Hee Hong; her children NanYoung Baer, Seongwoo Hong, and NanJoo Hong; her son-in-law Gamaliel Baer and daughter-in-law Mihyang Hong-Lim; and seven grandchildren.

For ten years, Hyoja endured a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. In her final years she was cared for in hospice here in Maryland, close to her children, while Rev. Hong received medical treatment in Korea, a long and painful separation. Through it all, the family held on to their faith and to each other.

Your gift will help the family with the costs of her funeral arrangements, cremation, and memorial service, and with related expenses during this difficult time.

Details of the memorial service will be posted here as soon as arrangements are confirmed.

Thank you for every prayer, every kind word, and every gift. Hyoja spent her life giving to others, and the love she shared is now coming back to her family.
