In Loving Memory of Helen Poorman
Donation protected
With a heavy heart, I inform our family near and far that shí nalí asdzaan, Helen Poorman, made her way to the Spirit World on June 02, 2024. Helen's maternal clans are Bitahni, born for Todacheenie. She leaves Mother Earth and her children: Rose, Gloria, Loraine, Ruth, Ernest, Dennis, and Steven Poorman. We ask for prayers and support during this difficult time as we remember the strong, loving person Helen was.
Helen was a phenomenal rug weaver, selling dozens of rugs now displayed across the country. Her impeccable rug weaving skills are what she was well-known for. Not only did she do it for monetary value, but she did it for the culture. Through her crafts, she made multiple great impressions on what great rug work she had done and most definitely inspired others to do the same.
She was rich with traditional knowledge to the fullest extent that she knew, which was passed down to her children and grandchildren and will remain highly relevant because of the long life that she has lived. For Helen's beliefs, she had strongly believed in traditional Navajo cultural ways and Native American Church (NAC). She applied herself heavily in NAC because she truly believed in the holiness in the conducted ceremonies and showed her sincere gratitude for what was offered.
As we lay our mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, and nali to rest, we are asking for monetary donations to help cover the funeral expenses. Please help us bring Helen back home and provide her with the proper memorial services she deserves.
We are holding family gatherings at the Poorman residence - Redpoint Flats. You are more than welcome to visit.
