In loving memory of Gunnar Ray

Gunnar unexpectedly passed away May 14th, 2023 in his mothers arms with his family at his side.

Gunnar was born on January 26th, 2006. During his birth, there were complications that would hinder his life forever. Gunnar lived his life battling Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, being completely blind, and little later on receiving nutrition through a feeding tube. With all these obstacles in front of him at birth, he was given a life expectancy of two years. But, here we are 17 years and almost four months later.

Gunnar, who battled through so many surgeries and sicknesses, always made it through with a smile on his face. He lived his life to the fullest through all the trials and tribulations. Not a day ever went by without seeing his smile or hearing his laugh. That was Gunz, when we didn't think there was light, he showed there was always time for a smile.

While Gunnar was the epitome of a warrior, he had a strong support system behind him. Leading that was our one of a kind mother, Nikea. She was his life long caretaker and is without question, the reason we got this much time in this life with him. Even while working multiple jobs at once, she kept the sharpest eye on our guy. She gave him his medication daily, nutrition, personal hygiene, and love. They had the greatest bond. They were true best friends, each others rock.

All this leads to the end of his physical story here on Earth. Gunnar passed away unexpectedly on May 14th. It comes as a shock to us all because he was truly as healthy as he had ever been.

Obviously no parent or family could ever anticipate such a unexpected tragedy to happen. That is why I have put together this fundraiser. To help offset the costs of this hard time in my family. The biggest now being the cremation services and the constant travel back and forth to Nationwide Childrens Hospital. I'd also like whatever is leftover in this fundraiser to supplement the Celebration Of Life we plan on having for Gunnar. More details to come at a later time for that.

I know, financially, it is hard for almost everyone right now. This world is crazy. But if you would like to and feel comfortable of making a donation of any amount, our family would greatly appreciate it. If not, I truly do understand. No hard feelings. Gunnar surely wouldn't have any.

It took an army to get Gunnar to this point, it'll take the same army to celebrate him the way he should.

Hug your loved ones more and tell them you love them. I thank you all for your thoughts, time, and donations.

Gunnars' Big Bro,
Dylan
