In Loving Memory of Gordy Kirk, A Beloved Gem & Pioneer

Donation protected
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our dear Uncle Gordy, Gordon Willis Kirk, on March 3, 2025, just shy of his 102nd birthday. Uncle Gordy was more than a cherished family member, he was a true treasured gem. His bright, loving, and funny personality lit up every room, and his wisdom and kindness made him a mentor to many.

A proud World War II veteran who served under General Patton, Gordy’s legacy of service continued throughout his life. From his role in helping fellow veterans as part of the VFW to his long career with Northwest Airlines, he was always giving back to others. He made history as the first Black Minnesota State Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in 1995, a true pioneer.

Gordy was a long-time active member of Hallie Q. Brown’s Retired Men’s Club. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where he served as an usher.

Uncle Gordy was not just a pillar of strength but also a source of laughter, guidance, and love for his family and friends. His spirit, humor, and generosity will forever live on in our hearts.

We’ve created this GoFundMe to help with memorial expenses and to honor the incredible legacy of a man who touched so many lives. Any contribution is deeply appreciated as we celebrate his remarkable life.

We invite you to honor Gordy's legacy on Thursday, April 3.
