In Loving Memory of Gian Fernandez

Hello, my name is Patrick Fernandez and I’m Gian’s youngest brother. My family is deeply saddened and at a loss for words. On October 22nd, late afternoon, my brother passed away. Gian was a beloved son, devoted brother, loving and caring father, and a great friend to many.

Life and Adventure of Gian Fernandez

Those who knew Gian, knew that he was an adventurous soul and lived life to the absolute fullest. Gian was uplifting, and brought us happiness and laughter in even the darkest of times. Earlier this year, Gian enrolled into college and had ambitions to pursue a nursing degree. His determination and drive is something that we can all look up to. As his youngest brother, he showed me how to navigate through life and all of the hardships that come with it. My siblings and I will forever be grateful for having the blessing to call him our brother.

As a son, Gian was very thoughtful and always reminded our parents how much he loved them. He always put his best foot forward in order to make our parents proud. As a father, Gian cherished every moment with his 12 year old daughter, Nina. Despite being busy, he set aside time for his daughter and loved her unconditionally. As an older brother, Gian was a teacher and protector. He taught us to keep pushing forward no matter how hard life can get. Gian was always there for us and had our backs. As a friend, Gian was loyal and continuously spread joy to everyone he met. He always had a joke to tell, even to those he had just met. He always gave us laughter when we needed it most. Gian’s smile was iridescent and contagious. One couldn’t help but feel the love and happiness in his presence.

For those who may not have known him, Gian walked through life with confidence and always sought a new adventure. He loved snowboarding and never missed a snow season regardless of a storm. Gian loved his motorcycle and the thrill that it brought him while riding. He enjoyed mountain biking and never backed down from a challenge. Gian loved his dog, Ace, and made it a great priority to take him out and teach him new tricks. Gian appreciated the Hawaiian culture and he would often visit Hawaii when he could. Gian loved spending time with us whether it was eating KBBQ or playing board games all night. These are some of the moments that we will cherish the most.

My siblings and I are starting up this fundraiser to help alleviate the financial burden of funeral expenses as we send our brother to his next adventure.
