On October 18, 2026, the Louisa County community experienced an unimaginable tragedy when 4-year-old Garcia Welch tragically lost his life in a dog attack.
Garcia was a bright, sweet little boy with a beautiful smile and his entire life ahead of him. He was a preschool student at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Louisa, Virginia, where he was just beginning his journey of learning, growing, and making memories. At only four years old, Garcia had so much life left to live, so many milestones to reach, and so many memories yet to make.
No parent should ever have to experience the heartbreak of losing a child, especially in such a sudden and devastating way. Garcia's mother and family are now facing a pain that no words can adequately describe. His older brother has also lost someone who should have been by his side throughout their lives.
During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking our friends, neighbors, and the entire Louisa County community to come together and surround Garcia's family with love, prayers, and support.
We have created this GoFundMe to help cover Garcia's funeral and memorial expenses and to ease the financial burden on his mother as she navigates this heartbreaking loss. All funds raised will go directly to Garcia's mother to assist with these expenses and provide support as the family takes the time they need to grieve.
While no amount of money can ever replace Garcia or take away the pain of losing him, we hope to provide his family with one less thing to worry about during this unimaginable time.
If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. If you cannot contribute financially, we kindly ask that you share this fundraiser and keep Garcia's mother, his older brother, and their entire family in your thoughts and prayers.
Garcia's life was far too short, but his memory will never be forgotten.
Thank you for showing this family that they are not alone. ❤️
