In loving memory of Gabriel Pomeng

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Gabriel “Gaby” Pomeng. Gaby was diagnosed with cancer on December 23rd and continued to fight until his last breath on February 3rd. Although we are pained at the loss of Gaby, we have been so blessed to see the lives that he touched with his love, compassion, humour and generosity throughout his 38 years.

Gaby left his home country of France where he was born and raised to fulfill his aspirations of making our world a better place and to accomplish bigger dreams. His journey to chase his passion took him to England, Norway, other parts of Europe and the Americas. Gaby came to Canada in 2016 as his love for Specialty Coffee allowed him to settle down in Calgary, Alberta at one of the world-renowned organizations, Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters. He started as a barista and worked his way up to his dream job as a green coffee buyer. His career and amazing employers helped him to fulfill his dream of travelling around the world and discovering quality Specialty Coffee, interacting with people from all walks of life, and simply making people’s lives better. Gaby created a family within the company and blessed another group of coworkers with his kind-hearted nature at DHL Express Canada in Calgary, Alberta, where he worked and developed many loving relationships. These relationships transferred to his love for his family, including his mother; Léa, father; Patrick, brother; Romain, his loving wife; Marion and their greatest treasure, their son Lennon “Lenny”, soon to be 2. As he touched so many lives deeply, it is impossible to name them all, however; we know that he would be honoured to see the outpouring of love and support that so many family members and friends have given him and his loved ones at this time.

Although our dear friend leaves his family surrounded by the love and support of a community that his light has created, we ask for aid for his wife Marion and their son, Lenny. Any and all contributions would help tremendously in funeral costs, helping Gaby’s son, Lenny, celebrate his 2nd birthday, which is less than 3 weeks away and finally, living expenses while they grieve this tragic loss. Any additional funds will be saved for future education for Lenny. We thank you all for the immense support you have shown during this time. Gaby was always a joyous presence, and we know that living every day in happiness and gratitude would be the greatest honour to Gaby’s memory.
