In Loving Memory of Gabriel Marcelo Fernandez

Hello, my name is Tiffany Kassem-Benchimol and I am the daughter-in-law of Gabriel Marcelo Fernandez. Marcelo, as he was known as, was a kind, funny, adventurous, rock and roll loving and hardworking man. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather - not to mention friend, employee and avid soccer fanatic. I will fondly remember him as a man who had deeply loved his wife, a love that was so beautiful it reminded me of a movie; as a man who showed pride in his work and family; and as an individual who was always ready for a good time!

On August 20, 2021, Marcelo was at work when he unexpectedly passed away. He was found by his youngest son, my husband, James on August 21, 2021 at about 3:00 AM already deceased. With his unexpected death, our family is faced with hardships that we were obviously not expecting. Normally, I would not look to the public for assistance, however due to these circumstances, I am asking for help on behalf of my in-laws. Marcelo was the head of his household; he was able to keep our family afloat, even through a pandemic. He would never ask for anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

I am creating this GoFundMe for my in-laws with hopes that if there is any contribution that can be given toward making this loss easier to cope with for them (in terms of finances) or even in prayers and well wishes. Unfortunately because Marcelo’s death was so unexpected, we are not prepared to cover the costs of funeral arrangements or any of the other expenses that Marcelo had been the primary caretaker of. Our family would appreciate any help, if possible.

Marcelo, como se lo conocía por todos, era un hombre amable, divertido, aventurero, amante del rock and roll y trabajador. Fue un esposo, padre y abuelo increíble, sin mencionar amigo, empleado y ávido fanático del fútbol. Lo recordaré con cariño como un hombre que había amado profundamente a su esposa, un amor que era tan hermoso que me recordó a una película; como un hombre que mostró orgullo por su trabajo y su familia; ¡y como un individuo que siempre estaba listo para pasar un buen rato!

El 20 de agosto de 2021, Marcelo estaba en el trabajo cuando falleció inesperadamente. Fue encontrado por su hijo menor, mi esposo, James, el 21 de agosto de 2021 aproximadamente a las 3:00 a.m. ya fallecido. Con su muerte inesperada, nuestra familia se enfrenta a dificultades que obviamente no esperábamos. Normalmente, no buscaría ayuda en el público, sin embargo, debido a estas circunstancias, estoy pidiendo ayuda en nombre de mis suegros. Marcelo era el cabeza de familia. Siempre pudo mantener a flote a nuestra familia, incluso durante una pandemia. Nunca pidio nada y siempre estaba dispuesto a echar una mano.
