To everyone who may not yet have heard the news, my beloved mother Emma Carter passed away last Sunday after a battle with cancer. She is finally home with the Lord she loves, no longer in pain.
Mom wished to have a simple funeral, but most important to her was to be buried at Riverview Cemetery, where Dad as well as my grandmother are buried. I have already had numerous emails, texts and messages from people asking how to help. It is difficult to put into words, and you all know that I don't like asking for anything. But I am in need, so here it is...
The funeral costs need to be paid up front before the service - funeral and burial costs still needed add up to $4,600. If that isn't enough, I have been notified that I must vacate the apartment by July 1st, which means coming up with a security deposit and first/last months' rent - and that's IF I am able to find an apartment that I can afford. Any affordable suggestions would be helpful. Lastly, my children (son and daughter) very much want to fly to Portland from their home in Alaska to attend the service and be with me at this difficult time. At last check, airfare for one person is more than $900.
It is difficult for me to ask for help, but I am asking for Mom. She didn't want much, but unfortunately funeral and burial costs are extremely high.
