Dear community,
Our beloved Rae is navigating the immense grief of losing their mother, Emeline, on June 2nd, 2025. Emeline lived in Vallejo with her partner, Ray, supporting extended family as the hardy, loving matriarch.
"Emeline immigrated as a child from the Philippines with her parents, and helped raise her three younger siblings in Oakland, California. She was an inspiration to the younger generations- she became a young single parent who worked full-time and went to community college to study business. Emeline loved to write and travel when she could.
She was drawn to meditation and spirituality and was always challenging herself to deepen her practice. Tending to her plants and flowers gave her so much joy.
She was constantly giving to others and wanted to be of service to others: her family, friends, neighbors, both housed & unhoused, and animals; trying to improve her environment and people’s lives for the pure fact that it made her happy."
As the family reels from Emeline's transition into ancestorhood, we are asking for financial support for:
- Cremation, funeral and celebration of life/memorial costs
- Storage of Emeline's belongings
- Rent money for Rae, Emeline's only child, so they can focus on the preparations for above and to be present in their grief
- General funds for: food, travel from the Philippines, & other resources for the extended family, therapy for Rae, gas, etc.
Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated as we approach Emeline's celebration of life date (details to come). Sending messages of support to Rae are welcome, and please keep in mind that this is an overwhelming time for our friend. They may not get back to you immediately, if at all. Thank you all.
