In Loving Memory Of Ember Rose Blum

Ember Rose was born on July 6th, 2024. She was welcomed by her mother Felicia, father Ethan, and big brother Eastyn. She weighed 5lbs 12oz. Just a peanut but mighty. She had beautiful curly brown hair and the sweetest voice. Ember's life was a true blessing to all of us. Her life was short, but she touched each of us and our community quickly.

Ember's arrival seemed normal and perfect. A few hiccups, but we managed through them. Her beauty quickly turned into a devastating storm we did not know we would be entering. Every test and panel we ran came back very abnormal. Some very low and some very high. Doctors and nurses made the decision to arrange for Ember to be airlifted to American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, as their specialties are more advanced. Upon arrival, Ember was immediately taken over by tubes, medications, and machines. The doctor caring for Ember met with the family with not so good news. Her tiny little body was producing too much Lactic Acid. She was later diagnosed with a rare disease called Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Deficiency (PDH Deficiency) or in other words, a metabolic disease. She is 1 in 50,000. The teams at the hospital did absolutely everything they could, ran every test they could until we ultimately ran out of options. Ember fought her battle as long as possible but with her organs working overtime with no improvement, she slowly started giving up. The machines kept her heart beating long enough for the family to share their last moments with her. After a couple of days being in the NICU, watching her fight, watching the teams work endlessly around the clock, the family had to make a heartbreaking decision. The family gathered together, each sharing the love for Ember and saying their goodbyes. Ember passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on July 10th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

We are asking for support, donations, and prayers during this time as the family did not intend to be planning services for their baby girl.
