In Loving Memory of Ellen: Supporting Phantom's Sanctuary

Dear Broward Cat Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Ellen Schoenfeld’s untimely passing. Many of you knew Ellen as a passionate and dedicated advocate for cat rescue. She was deeply committed to caring for the large colony of cats she fed daily and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of countless felines in need.

Ellen’s greatest love was her cats, and thankfully, we were able to find loving homes for all of them when she first learned of her illness.

Phantom, one of her beloved rescues (whom she graciously took in from me), has found a safe haven at a small, local, private sanctuary. This sanctuary is run by a compassionate woman who provides care for around 30 cats in her backyard catio, in addition to feeding three neighborhood colonies. Her unwavering dedication ensures that the most vulnerable cats can live out their lives in a clean, safe, and loving environment.

In honor of Ellen’s memory and her lifelong dedication to cat rescue, we are creating this GoFundMe to support the private sanctuary where Phantom now lives. All funds raised will go directly to the sanctuary to help continue their vital work for cats like Phantom.
