In Loving Memory of Edwin Concepcion

Donation protected
On behalf of the Concepcion family, I am here to share the story of an incredible man and kindly ask for your support during this difficult time.

On July 18, 2025, Edwin Concepcion peacefully passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the love of his family as he took his final breath at home.

Edwin’s health journey began in 2021 when he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that later metastasized to his bones. Despite his strength and optimism, his condition became more complex earlier this year when he was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a rare and serious blood disorder. After spending three weeks in the hospital, Edwin and his family made the difficult but loving decision to bring him home and transition to hospice care so he could be in the comfort of his own home surrounded by those who loved him most.

Due to the severity and complexity of his illness and declining health, doctors felt that continuing treatment would not improve his quality of life.

Those who knew Edwin will remember him as a friendly, humble, goofy, and generous man. He was the kind of person who would share his last dollar or his lottery winnings without hesitation. A hard worker, Edwin took great pride in his work, having built a long and dedicated career at some of the most iconic places in the Monterey Bay area (Pebble Beach, Portola Plaza, Quail Lodge, the Hyatt, and Marriott). When he first moved to the U.S. from the Philippines, he worked at Thor Electronics in Salinas and never looked back. Providing for his family was always his priority.

He loved the simple things like basketball. He was a hometown fan of the Warriors and was a Lakers fan too. He loved to play basketball as a hobby. He loved to dance, thrift shop, and indulge in his favorite foods like taro boba, seafood, buffets, fried chicken, and of course Filipino food. But above all, Edwin was a family man. Nothing brought him more joy than his family. He adored his grandchildren and all the kids in the family. Family meant everything to Edwin. He made it a priority to keep everyone close, always encouraging us to come together to celebrate, eat, laugh, and make memories. He showed up, no matter how tired or busy he was. He loved being surrounded by his loved ones. He was the glue that held us all close.

He truly was mabait, meaning kind and humble in Tagalog. He lived for the people he loved.

Unfortunately, due to his cancer diagnosis, Edwin was unable to renew his life insurance policy after it expired. Despite his hard work and careful planning, this left the family unprepared for the significant expenses associated with funeral and burial arrangements.

We are humbly asking for your help in honoring Edwin’s memory and giving him the farewell he deserves. All donations collected will go directly toward covering funeral and burial expenses.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your support, kindness, and prayers during this difficult time. Your support means more than we can express.
