Dear family and friends,
Our dear Vergie Galapate passed away on December 28th, 2020 at the age of 85. We are devastated. We never thought that we would lose someone this close to us, someone we loved so dearly, so suddenly.
As you may know, Vergie has been our nanay, lola, tita, parent, sibling and friend to so many people in both the United States and the Philippines. Since her arrival to Southern California in 1986, both Vergie and her adoring, yet stubborn Ben have worked tirelessly to provide for the family in the States and abroad. Her selflessness and dedication to helping others has continuously enriched the lives of everyone that knew Vergie.
Notably, I think we can all agree that cooking was Vergie's finest skill. From crafting perfectly rolled lumpia, to mastering classic Filipino staples such as pancit, bistek, and kare-kare, the woman knew how to cook. Those of you that have had the pleasure of sharing a meal with her or purchasing food from her, you know what I'm talking about.
It is our goal to give Vergie a sensible and safe funeral service, but we cannot do it alone. Undoubtedly, this has been a trying year both financially and emotionally for everyone, including our family. And to give Vergie the essential burial and send off that she deserves, we're asking for her community's help. Every donation will get us closer to putting Vergie to rest peacefully at Forest Lawn in Cypress, CA.
I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to read about Vergie and for your thoughts. Any donation, no matter how big or small, will help us navigate this difficult time for our family.
