Help Bring Dr Samwiri Bulwanyi Senfuma Home to Uganda

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Dr Samwiri Bulwanyi Senfuma, who died in Nairobi on 31 July 2026.

Dr Senfuma was a devoted father to ten children: Christopher Senfuma, Milly Nanfuma, Stefano Kirabo Senfuma, Wycliff Bulwanyi, Karlheinz Senfuma, Melissa Bulwanyi Senfuma, Kevin Senfuma, Celestine, Geoffrey Senfuma and David.

He dedicated more than four decades of his life to medicine and compassionate service across Uganda, Germany and the United Kingdom. After studying medicine at Makerere University and continuing his education in Germany, he built a distinguished career as a Consultant Psychiatrist.

Despite working internationally, his heart remained firmly rooted in Uganda. He established Senfuma Memorial Clinic in Masaka and founded the Bukango Semechi Medical Project, providing affordable, and often nearly free healthcare to underserved communities.

He also began developing NOVUS, a specialist rehabilitation centre for people affected by substance-use disorders, continuing his lifelong commitment to mental healthcare and public service.

Dr Senfuma touched countless lives through his kindness, generosity and dedication to his family, patients, colleagues and community. His passing has left his children and wider family facing the unexpected and considerable cost of repatriating his body from Nairobi to Uganda, where he will be laid to rest, as well as the associated funeral expenses.

We are asking friends, colleagues and well-wishers to support the family during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will go towards repatriation, transportation and funeral arrangements, as well as supporting the continuation of NOVUS; the important vision that Dr Senfuma was unable to see fully realised during his lifetime.
