In loving memory of Dr Magdy Elmahdy
Donation protected
Dr Magdy was an amazing personality, Quran teacher, Mentor and Surgeon who provided decades of service to caring for others in every way. He was much loved by his community, patients and colleagues alike. He was diagnosed with a condition called multiple myeloma from which he eventually passed away (rah) from on Monday 21st March 2022 leaving behind a young family and small children.
Qualities:
- Generous. His house was constantly open to others who may be guests, travellers or had run into difficulties that he often hosted rent-free for weeks or months at a time. He would also not hesitate to volunteer loaning or donating money to people.
- Caring. I remember he heard a friend was unwell a few days before he passed away and insisted on calling them with genuine concern, despite being very weak and unwell at the time, stating "please reassure me" about what happened to you.
- Courage. He displayed great patience and courage throughout his illness, always pushing his body. He ended up in intensive care and a ventilator but despite this was determined to get better and get home to his children which he did. Whenever he was asked up until his last days of his illness how he felt, he would simply remark Alhamdulilah (all praise is to God) and not complain.
- Inspirational. He was well read with respects to the Quran, linguistics and medicine. Whenever he spoke about a subject it came to life especially the Quran and motivated others around him.
The night before Dr Magdy passed he said "the inevitable is near, every journey has an end". Any funds raised here will be going directly to his family who will be using all available funds to support causes he was passionate about such as feeding the poor, water projects and supporting education. We pray this will help him in his next journey to The Most Merciful.
