Our beloved mother, Donike Gocaj, a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, tragically and unexpectedly lost her life in a devastating accident that has left our entire family and community heartbroken beyond words.
Our mother was the most loving, selfless, altruistic, and caring person we knew. She dedicated her life to her family and helping people, and was the heart of everything we did. She brought warmth, strength, guidance, and unconditional love into every room she entered. To know her was truly to love her.
The pain of losing her so tragically and so suddenly is something we are still struggling to process. No family could ever prepare for a devastating loss of this magnitude. To know someone we love so deeply, spent her last moments in excruciating pain breaks our hearts, and this immense loss has changed our lives forever.
As we navigate this unimaginable tragedy, we are raising funds to help support funeral and memorial expenses, ongoing support for our family during this difficult time, and the many unexpected challenges that come with such a sudden loss.
Our mother was also a dedicated caregiver to her own mother, Vitore Harusha, who lives alone in Albania following the passing of our grandfather three years ago. Our mom regularly traveled to Albania to help care for her, assist with medical appointments, and provide emotional and financial support. Continuing to support our grandmother during this incredibly difficult time is deeply important to our family.
We also hope to honor our mother’s memory by helping bring greater awareness to the circumstances surrounding tragedies like this, in the hope that no other family has to endure the heartbreak we are experiencing.
The outpouring of love, prayers, and support from family, friends, strangers, and people around the world has meant more to us than we can ever express. We are deeply grateful for every message, donation, share, and prayer during this painful time.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the burdens our family is facing as we grieve, heal, and honor our mother’s beautiful life and memory.
