In Loving Memory Of DJ Neva
Donation protected
With heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Evan Boyd, affectionately known as DJ Neva. He suffered a stroke two weeks ago and passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5th, at 8:30 pm. Neva was a remarkable person and a true pillar of the DJ and nightlife community, with over three decades of contributions, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
Neva's journey as a DJ began during the birth of Hip-Hop in the Bronx, NY. In his youth, his two older sisters, Marion and Sean, would take him to the Park Jams and leave him by the DJs to babysit while they danced. It was there where Neva fell in love with Hip-Hop and the craft of DJing by watching pioneers like DJ AJ, Lovebug Starski, Grandmaster Flash, and Red Alert. Later, he would hone his craft for DJing and party rocking at iconic nightclubs throughout Manhattan and the Hamptons before making his name in Las Vegas. In 2003, the world-renowned hospitality company The Light Group recruited Neva for a residency at Light, their newest nightclub inside the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Over the next 20 years, Neva shared the stage with countless A-list artists and earned residencies at nearly every major club in Las Vegas, a testament to his extraordinary talent and unwavering work ethic. He continued to DJ in Las Vegas until his untimely passing.
Throughout his life, Neva’s influence reached many. He was the co-owner/co-founder of KNYEW (Keeping New York Everywhere), one of the first streetwear brands/boutiques in Las Vegas. He was a prominent voice and co-host on the popular R.O.A.D. (Reflections Of A DJ) podcast. Neva was known for his eidetic memory with music, remembering specific and obscure information about release dates, labels, producers, and more. He was a walking encyclopedia of music and had impeccable taste and selection, which he showcased on his Twitch streams during the pandemic of 2020.
As we remember and celebrate Neva’s incredible contributions to nightlife, fashion, and the DJ culture, we encourage everyone to share their stories, memories, and the impact Neva had on their lives. All donations will go directly towards family expenses and Neva’s funeral arrangements, which include flying him back to New York, where Neva will be buried with his beloved mother, Juanita Boyd, in Woodlawn Cemetery. Rest in peace, Neva. We unite to honor your legacy by living our lives with the same passion, fortitude, humility, integrity, loyalty, and love that you shared with us.
