On September 6, 2026, the Broderick family and so many friends lost an incredible husband, father, brother, friend, and soon-to-be grandfather, Denis Broderick.

Denis passed away unexpectedly following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. His loss has left a hole in the hearts of his wife of 32 years, Lori, his three children, Brittany, Nicholas, and Melanie, his siblings, extended family, and the countless friends who Denis considered family.

If you knew Denis, you know that he never did anything halfway. He had a huge smile, an even bigger personality, and a way of making everyone around him laugh. Whether he was riding his Harley-Davidson, playing darts or golf, dancing when the music came on, cracking a joke, telling a story, or simply checking in on someone he loved, Denis had a way of making people feel like they belonged.

He spent more than 20 years serving others as a homicide detective with the New York City Police Department before continuing his commitment to his community with the Pawleys Island Police Department. Service was simply part of who Denis was. He showed up for people, protected the people he loved, and gave more of himself than most people ever realized.

Above all else, Denis loved his family. He and Lori built 32 years of memories together, and he was incredibly proud of his three incredible children. He was especially excited to become a grandfather to his daughter Melanie and son-in-law William’s baby. We know he would have been the best grandpa ever!

Denis’s passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving his family to navigate not only the heartbreak of losing him, but also the unexpected financial expenses that come with such a devastating loss.

We are creating this fundraiser to help ease that burden for Lori and the family as they navigate funeral expenses, household expenses, and the many unexpected costs that come with losing Denis far too soon.
