In Loving Memory of David “Carp” Carpio – Supporting Michelle, Dylan, and Jaxon

Our beloved David Carpio passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind his devoted wife Michelle and his two boys, Dylan and Jaxon.

David was full of warmth, humor, and love — for his family, his friends, his home in California, and even his mischievous cat, Bandit. He was always joking, always finding a way to make everyone around him laugh, lighting up every room with his quick wit and playful spirit.

David and Michelle officially became a family in September 2024. They were planning their honeymoon, which they never got to take, but their joy together filled every day they shared. He adored Michelle — a gentle yet strong woman, an amazing mother, daughter, sister, wife, and friend.

He was proud of his sons — Jaxon, hanging upside down in gymnastics and loving how he had his “big guy” hangouts with his gang; and Dylan, running cross country, hitting the gym on his own, and excited to learn to drive.

David loved his family and life’s little adventures. As a boy, he cherished trips to Knott’s Berry Farm in his red overalls and backpack, riding the train with his Baba (his mom) and being thrilled and startled when he was “robbed by the bandidos” at the same time, in the same way, on the same ride, every time. He loved watching soccer with his dad — Moises, as he liked to call him when they were hanging out “as guys” — and planning their trip to attend the World Cup together.

He was deeply grateful for Michelle’s family, who embraced him as their own. He loved her mom and dad, who welcomed him like a son; he adored his Grandma Dyle, who showed him the tender love of a grandmother; and he felt close to Michelle’s brother David, his wife Amy, and their son Dom, who impressed him with his dancing at the wedding and sparked his newfound curiosity for lacrosse.

He shared countless memories with his sisters — sneaking into Yoly’s bed with Calvin and Hobbes comics, or going to Angels baseball games with Carmen, watching batting practice and running to catch stray balls.

He adored his nieces and nephews — from wall-climbing and hurling Gaby down the big hill on his skateboard, to sneaking away with little Sabrina for their own secret hangouts, to dinosaur and train chats with Eric.

He was equally grateful for his Papi and Nina, his loving godparents — his Papi, who would sunbathe with him in his little speedo, and his Nina, who always made her “macho” his favorite croquetas and natilla. He loved Maggie and Danny, his god-sister and “big brother”, his rocks that supported him across his transitions from being the cute little playful boy to a noble and kind man. He loved his brother-in-law Gilbert, who always talked sports and the finer points of Dodgers baseball.

San Diego always called to David. From the time he was little, we knew he was destined to be a true San Diegan after his many trips to SeaWorld to see his beloved Shamu. He even had a Shamu float that lived in our family pool, where he spent endless hours floating, laughing, and splashing — he simply loved the water.

And he was so happy to have lifelong Fullerton and San Diego friends who affectionately called him “Carp” and made him feel at home wherever he went.

This GoFundMe is to help Michelle and the boys through this painful time — giving them peace, stability, and space to heal. Your donations will help them keep as much normalcy as possible while they grieve and grow.

Every contribution, big or small, honors David’s legacy of love. Thank you for helping us keep his beautiful spirit alive.

With love and gratitude,
David’s Family
