It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected loss of Colin Capriati—a husband, a father, a colleague, and a friend.
Colin’s story was built on love and devotion. He and his wife met more than 30 years ago, and from the very first conversation they knew their lives would be intertwined forever. Together, they built a life filled with road trips, hikes, laughter, and simple joys. The greatest joy of all came when Colin became a father to Tristan. He poured his heart into that role—whether it was Saturday “Dad Days,” staying up all night to build a toy train set, or long evening walks where he listened to his son’s dreams. Colin was the kind of husband and dad who showed up fully, every single day.
Professionally, Colin’s story was just as remarkable. Over the 15 years I had the privilege of knowing him, I watched him grow into an extraordinary technologist—self-taught, endlessly curious, and always hungry to learn more. But what stood out most wasn’t his knowledge, it was his humility. Colin had a rare ability to make people feel seen, valued, and supported. He taught with patience, encouraged with kindness, and led by example. He didn’t just do great work—he made everyone around him better.
We’ll miss his wisdom, his humor, and the little traditions that made him part of our daily lives. Fridays especially won’t be the same without him—we’ll always save a seat for Colin at Burgers and Beers Fridays, and raise a glass in his honor.
Losing Colin leaves an unfillable space—for his wife, for his son, and for all of us who knew him. As family, friends, and colleagues, we are coming together to carry them through this unimaginable time. This GoFundMe has been created to support his family and honor the incredible life he lived.
If you’re able, I invite you to give. Every contribution is a reflection of the love, gratitude, and respect we all feel for Colin and the many lives he touched.
Colin will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a brilliant professional, and above all, a kind soul. His love and legacy live on through his family, his work, and through each of us who had the privilege of knowing him.
