My heart is broken to share that Coach Joe Mancuso has passed away. Joe wasn’t just a coach—he was family to so many of us in the Middle Country baseball community. He’s been my son’s coach since T-Ball, and he treated every single kid like his own. His wife Toni is one of the most amazing moms, friends, wives, and people I know. She and the kids are absolutely heartbroken, and they need their village right now more than ever.
A few years ago, Joe was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and against all odds, he fought his way back, teaching himself how to walk and talk again. Toni was right by his side through it all, never leaving, never giving up. Their strength and love were an inspiration to everyone who knew them. Joe was an Army veteran, a dedicated baseball coach, and a proud dad who had just gone back to school to further his career. He gave so much of himself to others—always showing up, always encouraging, always believing in these kids. He fought so hard, but his body needed rest. Even though he’s no longer here with us, his spirit will forever live on in every game, every swing, and every laugh shared on the field.
We want to show Toni and the kids how loved they are and how deeply Joe’s legacy will continue. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping them during this devastating time. I’m also thinking about putting together some food chain/gift cards to make things a little easier for Toni and the kids as they navigate the days ahead—anything helps and will mean so much.
In the spring, we’re also hoping to do something special in his honor—maybe a Home Run Derby or community event to celebrate the incredible coach, dad, and friend that he was. Thank you for helping us keep Coach Joe Mancuso’s memory alive and supporting his beautiful family.
