In Loving Memory of Claire Nobuhle Mathonsi

We are grief-stricken by the untimely transition of Claire Mathonsi, our beloved sister, friend, comrade, and colleague. Claire was a visionary African feminist leader who truly embodied Octavia Butler’s liberatory guidance, “all you touch you change”. Through her life practice across the African region and globally, Claire’s contributions to social justice, women’s and girls’ leadership, and sexual and reproductive rights have forever shifted paradigms in how we work equitably towards the ultimate goal of collective liberation. She led and served a wide range of movements, communities, and organizations unapologetically, consciously, and powerfully!

There has been an amazing outpouring of well-deserved tributes to Claire. We have established this site to allow our community to offer support to her beloved family and share your stories and condolences.
