In loving memory of Christian Gabriel Monje

Memorial Day 2022 is a day my family and I will never forget.

On Monday, May 30th, 2022 my family and I lost a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and a friend. Christian was a victim of gun violence. He was viciously attacked over something that has no value in life. He was robbed of his personal belongings and then shot in the head. Christian was 29 years old with a bright future ahead of him. He was an employee of Fairfax County Public Schools and was growing fast in the county. One of his favorite hobbies was cooking. He loved cooking for his family and friends and consistently shared his love for cooking with everyone on his social media. People knew him as Chef Dembow, which is what he called himself. Christian had a dream to one day have his food truck with his logo CHEF DEMBOW. He loved spending time with his only nephew Roman. He was teaching him how to cook so he could one day cook for his mother. If someone were ever in need, Christian would be there for them. He would reach out to extend his help in anyway he could. Chrisitan had a heart of gold; he always put others before himself. If you knew Christian, you knew he loved music, the ocean, and the outdoors, but overall his family. Christian was a family man; he spent much time with my mom. My mom was his best friend and his confidant.

You would ask yourself, how do you survive a shot to your head? Chrisitan survived a bullet hole to his head and fought for his LIFE. Christian was a FIGHTER! He beat all the odds to stay ALIVE. He was in the hospital for 17 days fighting for life until God called for his most beautiful angel Christan Gabriel. He passed away June 16th, 2022 at 5:55 pm in George Washington University Hospital.

Chrisitan leaves behind his mark on this world. He touched so many people's hearts in many different ways. He leaves us all with one question. WHY HIM!? My family and I are devastated and trying to cope and understand how such a tragedy can happen to a good man like Christian. When he walked into any room, he shined with his personality and beautiful smile. He was one of a kind. He will truly be missed.
