It is with a broken heart that I share the loss of my mother, Chanda Marie Weghorst, who passed away yesterday. My mother struggled with addiction, and because of that she couldn’t always be present in my life — but even so, she was everything to me. I loved her more than anything in this world, and that love never changed. Chanda had a beautiful, big heart. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need if she had it to give. She loved deeply, cared deeply, and had a kindness that many people don’t get to see in this world. She especially loved her cat, Simore, who brought her comfort and companionship.

My mother lived a very hard life and carried a lot of pain for a long time. While the circumstances of her passing are heartbreaking, I take some comfort in knowing that she is no longer hurting and is finally at peace. We are raising funds to help with cremation and memorial expenses so we can honor my mother in the way she deserves to be honored — with dignity, love, and respect.
